While I finished the 2011 Crazy January Challenge back on the 15th, I haven't been able to get pictures of all of my starts. I also haven't gotten a good picture of the illusive Mouline Rouge. Hopefully there will be good light tomorrow and I will end up with a beautiful snap of MR along with start fifteen.
In the meantime, here's start number fourteen........

Mermaids

Can you even tell that I started the dang thing? Well, I did.......
twice! I'm stitching this one on a 32 count Silkweaver. First I tried it with two threads and I thought it was too bulky. Then I tried it with one thread (shown above). Personally, with all the sparkles in the fabric, I don't think that one strand of thread shows up at all. I'm just not satisfied with this project at all. But, a start is a start, so I logged this baby in anyway.
However I think that when I get back to this one I'm going to make a change. I'm going to change the fabric and substitute the light purple Crescent Colours floss with a darker one. You know, something like this.........
What do you think?
Happy Stitching!

Ooo... I like the changes you're considering. I think it will be beautiful!!
I'm swooning over your floss!
Arg! Tough decision. Both fabrics are fabulous. And your flosses are to die for!! I think your stitches show up fine on the blue. Maybe after a few more stitches you will be persuaded. I like the blue fabric better but would change your blue thread. It definitely wouldn't show. Mermaids swimming in lavender water would bug me! Happy stitching with whichever you choose.
I like the new fabby with the new threads! Gorgeous!
like the fabric with the floss changes. It will look great.
I like the first fabric better, but if you're not happy...
I like your changes but that might have something to do with the fact that I just can't STAND opalescent fabric! I have an aversion to anything with sparkles.
I love that sparkley fabric for Mermaids. I like the colors choices for the first one you have started. I think once you stitch more of it .. you may be happy. I did the same thing with BBD - Anniversaries.. I used 2 threads to stitch instead of one, so that it would show up...
i like them both, what do teh threads in the second pic look like on the opal fabric?
Very pretty - I like your changes!!
That is a tough one! I love the blue fabric and would change my floss to work on that fabric. Cant wait to see what you do with it.
I hate to see you have to start again, but I think the third time's the charm with this one - love your new color combo!
Oh is that beyond gorgeous! I love love love the colors, both top and bottom! I can't wait to see what you chose and your progress! I am in love. :)
XOXO

I like the color change! I also picked this as one of my 15. My fabric is called seaside twinkle.
I love the look of the sparkly fabric but I personally don't like stitching on it. Seems like my stitches always get lost despite the floss color.
I think your alternate choices will be perfect for this design. Can't wait to see a another start. (Hint, hint. Wink, wink.)
Oh I like the lovely blue but purple is always my favorite. I think the changes you are considering are great.
I love the new fabric and particularly the new floss colours. They are so bright, so beautiful. So just me, lol.
I like your suggestions for change. I think they will look better and go with your heart.

I cant decide. It so hard to tell unless you have them in your hand. That happens to me a lot when I am choosing. Ugh!!
I like the dark purple much better. I think it will contrast well with the fabric.
