Another New One

While I finished the 2011 Crazy January Challenge back on the 15th, I haven't been able to get pictures of all of my starts.  I also haven't gotten a good picture of the illusive Mouline Rouge.  Hopefully there will be good light tomorrow and I will end up with a beautiful snap of MR along with start fifteen.

In the meantime, here's start number fourteen........

Mermaids
by Country Cottage Needleworks
Can you even tell that I started the dang thing?  Well, I did.......twice!  I'm stitching this one on a 32 count Silkweaver.  First I tried it with two threads and I thought it was too bulky.  Then I tried it with one thread (shown above).  Personally, with all the sparkles in the fabric, I don't think that one strand of thread shows up at all.  I'm just not satisfied with this project at all.  But, a start is a start, so I logged this baby in anyway.

However I think that when I get back to this one I'm going to make a change.  I'm going to change the fabric and substitute the light purple Crescent Colours floss with a darker one.  You know, something like this.........

What do you think?

Happy Stitching!

I'm swooning over your floss!

Arg! Tough decision. Both fabrics are fabulous. And your flosses are to die for!! I think your stitches show up fine on the blue. Maybe after a few more stitches you will be persuaded. I like the blue fabric better but would change your blue thread. It definitely wouldn't show. Mermaids swimming in lavender water would bug me! Happy stitching with whichever you choose.

I like the first fabric better, but if you're not happy...

I like your changes but that might have something to do with the fact that I just can't STAND opalescent fabric! I have an aversion to anything with sparkles.

I love that sparkley fabric for Mermaids. I like the colors choices for the first one you have started. I think once you stitch more of it .. you may be happy. I did the same thing with BBD - Anniversaries.. I used 2 threads to stitch instead of one, so that it would show up...

That is a tough one! I love the blue fabric and would change my floss to work on that fabric. Cant wait to see what you do with it.

I hate to see you have to start again, but I think the third time's the charm with this one - love your new color combo!

I like the color change! I also picked this as one of my 15. My fabric is called seaside twinkle.

I love the look of the sparkly fabric but I personally don't like stitching on it. Seems like my stitches always get lost despite the floss color.

I think your alternate choices will be perfect for this design. Can't wait to see a another start. (Hint, hint. Wink, wink.)

I cant decide. It so hard to tell unless you have them in your hand. That happens to me a lot when I am choosing. Ugh!!

I like the dark purple much better. I think it will contrast well with the fabric.
