Wacky Week

What a crazy week I have had since last Wednesday.  It seems that I have been running "full steam ahead" and I haven't been able to stop yet!  Poor My Lady, she still stits were she ended up last Wednesday evening when I put her down.

So, what has kept me from stitching you ask?  Well, other than the usual tax season blues, I've been going every which way but sane!

Thursday night I went to a meeting after work.  That lasted an hour and by the time I got home and had dinner it was time for bed.  Friday brought me a rare treat during tax season and I was out of work by 6pm.  (Imagine that!)  I ran by Best Buy and picked up The Blind Side on Blu Ray.  I had been saving my Rewards Certificates for just this occassion.  Once I got home, I popped that bad boy in and enjoyed an evening with myself and the Blu Ray player.  What an evening it was.......I didn't even pick up my stitching during the movie (which is extremely rare for me).  I would have to say that if you ever get the opportunity, this movie is a must.  I really enjoyed it!

Saturday (with the exception of 6 hours of work) and Sunday were spent about 45 minutes away from home.  My uncle got remarried this weekend to a wonderful lady.  Saturday night we went to the rehersal dinner and then the wedding was on Sunday.  It was so nice to spend time with my husband and my family.  Especially with my cousins......I hardly ever get to see them since we are now seperated by two states instead of two hours like when we were younger!

Monday night brought Passover and more time with different parts of the family.  The best part is the Matzo Ball Soup.  Yum, yum!  My mom sent me home with some, but in my haste I left it on the counter.  Good thing my parents love me......my step-daddy brought it to me at work today.  So, it looks like soup for dinner tonight after all.  I can't wait!

Last night hubby and I met at his mom's house for dinner.  A friend of hers/ours is leaving for Florida and we wanted to be able to say good bye.  We celebrated with a Honey Baked Ham, corn pudding, green bean casserole and Carvel ice cream cake for dessert.  (Shhhh......don't tell my mom I ate ham during Passover....she'd kill me!)

See what I mean?  Crazy busy!  I'm not even sure if it will end tonight or not.  I've got a few errands to run later on, so I hope they don't keep me out so late.  My needle is screaming at home!

On another note, I notice that I'm coming up on my 100th post.  I'd really like to celebrate with a giveaway.  Unfortunately, I haven't had time to stitch anything that I could send along with my giveaway.  Is it okay that I'm not stitching anything?  Should I wait until after I stitch something to start my giveaway?  What do you think?

Slow Going

I did get a chance to cuddle on the couch with my stitching last night.  I spent a fair amount of time with My Lady's Quaker, but right now that "fair amount" is just not enough for me.  Here she stands in all her neglected glory!  I really wish I could spend more time with her this weekend, but I know how busy I will be with the end of tax season and life in general.  After everything I have to do this weekend, I won't know if I am coming or going by Sunday evening.  I might even be happy to show up at work on Monday morning because it will be less stressful.........IMAGINE THAT!

Sorry to be so short, but I must head off to work.  Here's to hoping I get to add a few more flowers to this motif sometime today........

Happy Stitching!

My Lady's Update

Ahh, yes.......My Lady's Quaker.......I do so love this piece!  (Thank you for the enhancement experience Faye!)  Alas, I really haven't been able to put much in this since last week.  Look at her, this is were she stands as of today........she's been neglected!  The neglect is really weighing on my fingers and my mind.

I know it shouldn't bother me, after all it is my busy season.  But, I'm still in so much turmoil on the homefront as well right now and I'm trying desperately to get my sanity serenity back.  This is only one of the ways that I know how to get it back and I haven't been able to work it like I want to.  Yes, "patience is a virtue" and I need to take things "one day at a time", but it is hard.  Even at this age I'm learning new things about myself every day.  Some I like and some I don't, but I am in a place where I am getting stronger day by day.  I have lots of help from many sources and I can see the growth already.  (Some of those sources get a $30 co-pay out of me every week for the last few weeks so I better be seeing growth. LOL!)  I'm more careful in what I say and in how I act.  I am taking responsiblity for me and not responsibility for others as I would normally do.  It is amazing how freeing it is to bite your tongue and not get taken advantage of!

Now, if only tax season were over with and April 16th was here.  I've planned some wonderful "me" time after the 15th.  I'm going to a Day Spa!!!  My treatment will consist of a facial, a full body massage, a manicure and a pedicure.  I've never done anything quite like this for myself and I'm really looking forward to it.  Now, don't get me wrong, I've had your typical mani & pedi in your "run of the mill, on every corner" nail salon and I've even had a facial once in my life.  Oh yeah, and those 15 minuite chair massages......I had one of those last Thursday at work.....how R..E..L..A..X..I..N..G! (Thanks Bossman!)  But, I've never gone to a spa like this.  One of my co-workers convinced me to go after telling me all about it.  This is all I dream about each day as I sit in front of my work computer slaving away over tax returns while listening to people complain about how much tax they owe.  What do you expect when your W-2 has 6 or even 7 digits before the decimal????

Well ladies and gentlemen (I'm sure that there is at least one of you boys out there!), it looks like this is it for today.  I'm going to go curl up on the couch with my stitching now!

Happy Stitching!

Spring Is Here......

The ducks are back at the office.  I saw them nesting in our flowerbeds next to the front door at work.  Hopefully this year the nest won't be destroyed by a person who shall remain nameless, but didn't like the fact that the ducks were messing up the flowerbed.  Big fat meanie!!!1

So, aren't these guys cute?  (I'll try to remember my good camera next week, this crappy snappy was taken with my cell phone.....not too bad!)

I had to spend the whole day inside at work today.  Yup, no 70 degree weather for me.  I had to soak up the UV rays through my office window this afternoon.  It is crunch time here!  At least there are only 3 more Saturdays to go until freedom from tax season 2010!  Boy am I looking forward to that!  I need my stitchy time back!

Speaking of stitchy things, did you see the great giveaway at Feather's In The Nest?  Check out Jennifer's blog for details!  By the way.......WELCOME HOME BRANDON AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY OF OURS!!!!!

I hope you got to enjoy your weekend.  Happy Stitching!

Time Change Struggle

I don't know about you, but I'm still struggling with the "spring ahead" time change. While I love having the sun out later on in the evening, my body is rebelling against the dark mornings. This time of year is such a struggle for me due to the early mornings and late nights spent at work and the change doesn't help much. At least there is now less than 30 days until tax day.

Tonight I decided to take advantage of my struggle with the clock. After leaving work early to get my haircut I found that I had some extra time on my hands that I don't normally have during the week. So, I sat down in my happy place and pulled out My Lady's Quaker. I thought I would get a little bit of serenity while I stitched and "watched" American Idol. I have to say, that is a great show to "watch" while stitching! Anyway, as I watched and stitched, I felt a calmness envelope me. I love when I can really stitch with full serenity!

So, after a DVR'd episode of AI and then NCIS, I finished up my evening with the 11pm news. Here's how my Lady looked before I headed up to bed.....

Not to bad for a couple of hours! I was hoping for a weekend finish and this time will go a long way towards that goal. Hopefully I can get in another productive evening before Saturday night.

Before I head off, I thought I'd update you on Hubby's employment status. I think that I said that he finally found a job. Well, he HATES it there! I can understand all of his gripes as they are legitimate. Fortunately, he got a call from another place that he had applied to back in January.  He decided to take the new job instead of sticking it out where he is right now.  I pray this is the right move!  He is dealing with so much and a job is the least of his worries at this moment.....

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Happy Stitching!

Choices......

We all have choices. What we choose defines us. Sometimes we hurt others with our choices. Sometimes the choices we make causes us to hurt ourselves. But, they are still our choices and we must he proud of them no matter what.....even if thy do hurt.

I'm being faced with a tough choice right now. I won't elaborate on exactly what the choice is since I don't think I should be airing everything out here. However, it does feel good to talk about it in some respect. I know that I'm the only one who can decide and that what I do decide will most definately affect my future. I honestly feel that I'm doing the right thing by standing my ground. I just wish it didn't hurt so much. I'm not asking for perfection since God knows that I am far from perfect.

Oh....why does it have to be so hard???? Does anyone know the directions to Easy Street? I would really like to rent a home there for a short time!

Thank you all for lending me a shoulder. I appreciate your visits and comments. I promise to show some stitching soon. It has just been real hard for me to find time to pick up my needle since this past Saturday. I'm hoping that I can make Sunday a "me" day. If it comes to fruition then I should have either a progress picture on a wip or a new start. I will just have to see how I feel on Sunday.

Monday Already?

Here we are at another Monday morning. I don't know about you, but I always have the best intentions for the weekend and by Sunday night I'm too exhausted to have finished a quarter half of what I had intended. What makes it worse this time of year is that I spend much of the weekend working so the housework is left to the husband and the dog. The dog would be happy to help, but he has no thumbs. And the husband? Well, that is a place I just don't want to go to right now.....

So, yesterday was spent playing. I met my MIL and her boyfriend at an area mall and we went to an early morning (10:25am) showing of Alice in Wonderland. The reason we went that early is because all movies are only $5 on the weekend, if you go before noon. Now, we had to pay an extra $4 for the 3-D/Imax combo, but it was worth it. (it would have been $14 later in the day) The theater was packed! Of course, who wouldn't want to see Johnny Depp on a early Sunday morning?

After the movie we had lunch at the new restaurant where my husband works. I had the best crab and corn chowder along with some delicious aihi tuna. YUM!

I took the rest of the afternoon to go shopping for an outfit to wear to my uncle's wedding that will he held later this month. I ended up with a few outfits for work and a possible outfit for the wedding which will also double as a great work outfit. However, I'm not sure if what I ended up with is dressy enough.  I don't have to go crazy since it is a low key wedding, but I still want to look nice.  This means that I will end up with my mom sometime next weekend so that she can look at what I picked out.  Then, if she agrees with me about it not being dressy enough, we will head back out to the mall to look again.  WHEW!!  There goes another weekend.

So much for housework! LOL!  Anyone know a good maid??????

Saturday Night Stitching Party

Well, as you will be able to see once you scroll down, my mojo is back. To tell the truth, I don't think it ever really left. I've just been so consumed with my current situation that I was unable to stitch. During the worst of it I really wanted to pick up my needle, but I just couldn't! At least my situation has taken a turn in the right direction.....even though I'm not real sure what direction "right" really is. I just know that I feel at peace with everything right now. It will be a long road, but I am ready for the ride. I have such wonderful family support and all of my friends.....well, all I can say is that I am very grateful for them. I'm also grateful for all of you and your kind words that are full of compassion and support.

Enough of that! I know the real reason you stopped by. Here is what I have been working on tonight. This is "My Lady's Quaker". I'm using Lakeside Linen and Belle Soie. I will be happy to share my color selections, but I haven't decided if I'm going to keep the green or go for a shade darker. Ok, ok! Enough typing! Here she is.......ENJOY!!!!!
